MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – The film "Time Chose Us" on the Belarus 1 TV channel unveiled the deal Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko made with the veterans of the Great Patriotic War in 1998, BelTA has learned.
As usual, on 9 May 1998, the veterans of the Great Patriotic War were in the center of attention. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Great Patriotic War veterans marched to Victory Square. The Belarusian leader joined them. Even then Aleksandr Lukashenko managed to take a look into the current year of 2024.

"As Commander-in-Chief, I ask you to live long enough to celebrate at least the 80th anniversary together. The longer, God willing, the better. They say: it is a lot. I say: long is never enough. This is why we will celebrate the 80th anniversary here together. Alive and well, most importantly," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
