MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) - Belarusian Ambassador to Israel Yuri Yarashevich met with Patriarch Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine on 28 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Yuri Yaroshevich emphasized the significance of the anniversary dates to be celebrated in 2025 for the Orthodox believers of Belarus: the 900th anniversary of the foundation of Saint Euphrosyne Monastery, the 555th anniversary of the discovery of the miracle-working Zhirovichi Icon of the Mother of God and the 505th anniversary of the Holy Dormition Stavropegic Monastery in Zhirovichi.
The parties stressed the importance of preserving the spiritual heritage and strengthening cultural and religious ties. Special attention was paid to the importance of pilgrimage and support for humanitarian and spiritual initiatives that contribute to the strengthening of inter-human contacts.
During the discussion of the situation in the Middle East, the parties emphasized the importance of preserving peace and stability.
At the end of the meeting, the Patriarch conveyed his best wishes to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and expressed hope for the further development of spiritual and cultural ties.
