"On Point"
MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) - Iran had been preparing for aggression from the USA for a long time, Ukrainian military expert Yuri Dudkin said in the latest episode of BelTA’s V Teme [On Point] project.
Yuri Dudkin recalled that the Americans are currently trying to block the Strait of Hormuz. “To liberate it, as they say, they need to take five Iranian islands in the Strait of Hormuz. However, this is an impossible task for the United States. We see that even with all the might the U.S. leader speaks of, demilitarizing Iran is not working. All of its defensive structures and weaponry are deep underground, hundreds of meters into rocky soil,” he said.
The military expert is convinced that Iran had been preparing for aggression for a very long time. “This is now becoming absolutely obvious. Will the U.S. military campaign in this region continue? Undoubtedly. As of today, the USA doesn’t know how to end it. They are simply at a crossroads. The decisions being made one after another are escalating the conflict, not defusing it,” he said.
“I think that in the near future, the Americans will still try to conduct a ground operation, specifically on the islands, especially on Kharg Island [the location of Iran’s key oil terminal in the Persian Gulf]. Because Iran trades oil with many countries through this island,” Yuri Dudkin said.
