"On Point"
MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) - Russian military observer of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, Colonel (retired) Viktor Baranets explained how the Russian army is advancing in Ukraine in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s channel.
“The front is not standing still. It is moving, but very slowly. We would like it to move faster, that is the objective truth. But there is no day when the Defense Ministry does not report capturing new areas, and that is also the truth,” he said.
The expert noted that, according to information from the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, the army is taking an average of three to four populated areas per week. At the same time, he agreed with those who expect faster progress on the front and stressed that the Ukrainian army is putting up serious resistance.
“We are facing a serious enemy that is receiving support: equipment, money and personnel. This is a very serious enemy. And it is not only the Russian army that has experience, the Ukrainian army has it too. That must also be taken into account. The enemy is not foolish; they also think, devise traps and cunning moves, mislead us here and there, simulate the direction of the main attack while advancing elsewhere,” he added.
