MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – The committee is receiving information from various sources about ongoing preparations for staging a provocation in Belarus, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Security Committee Ivan Tertel.

The official said: “For the last few days we've been getting reports from various sources, including foreign ones, from our partner security agencies, about preparations for staging a provocation in Belarus. These actions are designed to destabilize the situation in our country while street protests are clearly on decline and plans to inspire protests in labor collectives and among university students have failed.”

In his words, the masterminds behind this action and their foreign curators intend to blame Belarusian law enforcement agencies for the grave consequences. “And by doing it they intend to grab the last chance for implementing their plans. In these conditions the KGB in association with other law enforcement agencies is implementing a set of measures to verify the reports, ascertain all the people involved, and bring them to justice,” Ivan Tertel said.

He asked Belarusian citizens to be vigilant, take care of their friends and families, and prevent them from getting entangled in criminal activities.
