Belarusian diaspora in Ukraine decries events in Belarus

MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) - It hurts to see what is happening in Belarus, Galina Vorozhbit, the chairwoman of the Chernigov public organization "Belarusian National and Cultural Society Syabry", told BelTA.

“I was born in Belarus. My mother and my relatives live there. It is with great pain that the whole Belarusian diaspora is watching what is happening in Belarus. We have already seen this happen in Ukraine. What have we achieved? Higher prices for goods, utility bills, healthcare, medicines. For example, I do gardening, farming to stay afloat. We have something to compare, and we want Belarus to avoid this,” Galina Vorozhbit noted.

According to her, Belarus has achieved a lot during the years of independence. "This is all thanks to the president and the government. People do not appreciate it, because they have not experienced the things that we have here in Ukraine. Young people want an easy life. I am 62 years old. I go to visit Belarus every year. I want to say to my countrymen: stop taking to the streets, appreciate what you are given by God. If you miss the moment now, you will not be able to make up for it," she added.
