Belarusian Defense Ministry shares military, patriotic upbringing experience with CIS states

MINSK, 28 November (BelTA) – A session of the committee of the heads of personnel education (upbringing) bodies of the defense ministries of the CIS member states took place at premises of the International Military Center of the Russian Defense Ministry in Moscow, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

As he was opening the meeting, chairman of the committee of the heads of personnel education (upbringing) bodies, Deputy Defense Minister of Russia, Chief of the Central Military-Political Office of the Armed Forces of Russia Viktor Goremykin emphasized the need for cooperation between the defense ministries in the field of upbringing work with personnel as well as the need to develop it further taking into account many years of experience of military cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The event was attended by a Belarusian delegation headed by Leonid Kasinsky, the Defense Minister’s Aide for Ideological Work in the Armed Forces, Chief of the Central Office for Ideological Work at the Defense Ministry. In his speech he spoke about results of the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and efforts of the defense ministries of the CIS member states to perpetuate the memory about the courage and heroism of soldiers who died on the battlefields.

In his words, over the course of one year personnel of the 52nd Independent Specialized Search Battalion worked at 192 search sites. Of these, 28 sites were worked on as a follow-up to the investigation by the Prosecutor General’s Office into crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War. In 2025 work also continued on restoring and improving burial sites of Soviet soldiers, who died defending the Fatherland in the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

Leonid Kasinsky also shared the experience of organizing military and patriotic education in the Armed Forces and among young Belarusians.

During the exchange of opinions the importance of preserving the historical memory of the heroic feat of the peoples of the Soviet Union in the fight against fascism and the large scale of the events held in the Commonwealth of Independent States were noted. During the meeting considerable attention was paid to reviewing the experience of upbringing work with military personnel based on national spiritual and moral values. Considerable attention was paid to working out proposals for the development of cooperation in the interests of further forming and strengthening the common military and cultural space. 

The meeting participants supported the Russian Defense Ministry’s proposals to hold the international youth military and sport game Heirs of Victory and the festival of army culture and creativity Outpost in 2026 with the participation of artistic groups and solo performers representing the national armed forces of the CIS countries. After discussing the items on the meeting agenda members of the committee signed resolutions on the further development of the system of military and patriotic upbringing of military personnel and pre-conscription age youth in the Commonwealth states.
