Belarus’ Minsk Oblast, Tajikistan’s Sughd Region sign action plan of cooperation 2025-2026

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) - Belarus’ Minsk Oblast and Tajikistan’s Sughd Province signed an action plan for 2025-2026. The document was signed by Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Aleksei Kushnarenko and Chairman of the Executive Body of State Authority of Sughd Region Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Aleksei Kushnarenko is on a working visit to Sughd Province of Tajikistan. This region is the leader in terms of the number of industrial enterprises in the country. Due to its favorable geographical location, the region is the northern trade gateway of Tajikistan. Favorable conditions for attracting investments have been created here.

During his visit to Tajikistan, Governor of Minsk Oblast Aleksei Kushnarenko met with Chairman of the Executive Body of the State Authority of Sughd Region of the Republic of Tajikistan Rajabboy Ahmadzoda. The leaders of the regions signed an action plan for 2025-2026 aimed at strengthening cooperation between the regions. 
Trade between the regions is increasing: in 2024 it surged 1.5 times, and this year - 40%. Belarus’ major exports to Tajikistan are sugar, beef, poultry meat, canned food, timber products. Imports include dried fruits, nuts and yarn. 

The governor of Minsk Oblast emphasized that cooperation between the regions could develop in industry, agriculture, social welfare, sports and tourism. Athletes from Minsk Oblast and Sughd Region compete in joint events, and in the future the regions are planning to expand cooperation in health resort recreation.

"We have a lot of mutual interest, which, I am sure, will translate into concrete projects and contracts," Aleksei Kushnarenko said.
