MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) - The Central Election Commission approved the members of the Supervisory Board to monitor the election campaigning in the media and its compliance with rules and regulations. The decision was adopted at a meeting of the the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko at a meeting of the CEC, BelTA learned.
The Supervisory Council to monitor election campaigning in the media was first established in 2000 during the parliamentary elections,” CEC Secretary Yelena Baldovskaya. "Since then a supervisory board has been set up every election campaign to exercise the relevant powers," she said. "The Supervisory Board is a collegial advisory body and is formed from among specialists in the field of editorial and publishing activities and media."
The CEC is set to approve the regulation on the CEC information center, to consider the regulation on the use of media in the preparation and conduct of the president election. The CEC will also consider the procedure for voting at places of temporary residence.
