Lukashenko wishes Happy Easter to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia

MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko wished a Happy Easter to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, BelTA learned from the president's press service.

"This holiday coincides with spring awakening of nature. Together with the sun-warmed soil, the light is illuminating the souls of believers with the news of the wonderful Resurrection of the Christ," the message reads.

The head of state noted that many centuries ago Christianity became the cornerstone of common cultural, historical and family values for Belarusians and Russians. "Centuries-old traditions of Orthodoxy unite the two nations, help us face any tests with dignity, strengthen our common desire to live in peace and harmony," the president stressed.

“May the joy of these joyful days multiply your spiritual strength for the selfless service to the Orthodox Church and the fraternal peoples of Belarus and Russia," Aleksandr Lukashenko wished the Patriarch.
