MOSCOW, 6 June (BelTA) - A lot of attention is paid to enhancing the Union State's role in the international arena, Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Galuzin said at the panel discussion “Union State: 25 years of integration - results and new challenges” at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, BelTA has learned.
“More and more attention is paid to the efforts to enhance the role of our Union State as an association in the international arena. As part of this process Belarus and Russia are forming a successful practice of adopting joint statements at multilateral platforms on behalf of the Union State. Such work has already begun, and several statements have been adopted on such topical issues as non-proliferation and arms control,” Mikhail Galuzin said.
“With a view to enhancing the role of the Union State in the international arena, I believe that it is time to think substantively about voicing our joint Russian-Belarusian initiatives by the state secretary of the Union State,” the deputy minister of foreign affairs added.
