Opinion: NATO troops near the Belarusian border are preparing for a real war

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – NATO is preparing for a real war and tries to calm down everyone by saying a real war is impossible these days. Aleksei Dzermant, a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, made the statement in his Telegram channel in response to concerns of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Belarus' Armed Forces Igor Korol about the buildup of NATO's military infrastructure in neighboring countries, BelTA has learned.

The analyst noted: “I don't want to sound like an alarmist, but they are getting ready for a real war. They want to strike so hard that no response would be possible. So hard so as to demolish the government in Russia and Belarus without any special losses for their side. They are trying to lull us into thinking it would be impossible these days, into thinking that they would not dare start such a war. They will dare. They lost all the brakes a long time ago.”

The day before Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Belarus' Armed Forces, General Igor Korol mentioned on the air of the Belarusian TV channel STV that NATO's military infrastructure in the adjacent territory improved considerably in the last four years.

Igor Korol said: “Work is constantly in progress to create new facilities and improve old ones. The modernization of five airfields has been completed in Poland. The modernization of another six airfields in Poland and Baltic states continues. Now these airfields can handle any type of aircraft and up to 200 aircraft of foreign countries can be deployed there. Ports and naval bases in Poland and Baltic states – our closest neighbors – are being improved in the same manner. It is primarily done in order to create a specialized infrastructure that will allow redeploying troops from the continental part of the USA to Europe.”
