Belarus’ National Pavilion on display at Caspian Agro, Interfood expos in Baku

BAKU, 15 May (BelTA) - Belarus’ National Pavilion has opened at the Azerbaijani international exhibitions Agriculture (Caspian Agro) and Food Industry (Interfood Azerbaijan), which are underway in Baku on 15-17 May, BelTA has learned.

Caspian Agro and Interfood Azerbaijan are the largest agricultural exhibitions in the Caucasus. This time they have united about 500 companies from 38 countries. Belarus is presenting its products for the fifth consecutive year. In total, 15 countries are showcasing their national pavilions.

According to Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko, during the opening of the forum that over 40 Belarusian companies came to Baku. They represent meat, dairy, confectionery, fish, alcoholic beverages and other types of food, as well as fertilizers, chemicals for plant treatment, veterinary products.

“Mutual trade in food products between Belarus and Azerbaijan has been steadily developing, making a significant contribution to ensuring food security of the two countries,” Igor Petrishenko said. “Today, Belarusian products can be bought in any chain supermarket in Azerbaijan, as well as in six specialized stores operating in Baku under the Belaruski brand. We hope that stores of Belarusian products will soon open in other cities of Azerbaijan.”

The exposition of Belarusian agricultural machinery, presented at the open area of the exhibition, enjoys wide popularity among both large Azerbaijani agricultural holding companies and farmers thanks to its reliability, ease of maintenance and affordable prices. “Today, 70% of tractors operating in Azerbaijan are Belarus-made tractors,” the vice premier said.

According to Mikhail Myatlikov, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI), the pavilion of Belarus is the largest one among other national stands this year. “It occupies almost 300 square meters. Our stands showcase food products, agricultural machinery, and, of course, petrochemicals, including fertilizers, which are used in agriculture,” he said.

Participation in Caspian Agro and Interfood Azerbaijan helps Belarusian enterprises to demonstrate their products not only to the residents of Azerbaijan, but also to representatives of many other countries. Over the years more than 200 Belarusian companies have presented their products at the exhibitions. Here they have found their partners and successfully cooperate with them.

“Last year there were 15,000 visitors representing 38 countries. This means it is not only an opportunity to present your products in Azerbaijan. It is also an opportunity to present your products to other countries, which, for example, did not make it to our Belagro expo,” the BelCCI chairman said.
