Office of Belarus' Honorary Consul opens in Croatian Split

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - The office of the Honorary Consul of Belarus has opened in the Croatian city of Split, Second Secretary of the Belarusian Embassy in Hungary Anastasia Borushko told BelTA.

During the ceremony, Belarusian Ambassador to Hungary and concurrently to Croatia Aleksandr Ponomarev presented the consular patent to Honorary Consul Tomislav Bozikovic.

The event was also attended by former Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, senior officials of the prefecture of Split-Dalmatia County, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, and business circles.

The opening of the honorary consul's office in Split with the consular district extending to the entire Dalmatia region is intended to intensify Belarus-Croatia cooperation in trade and economy, to establish contacts in cultural, educational, tourist and other areas, and facilitate interaction with Belarusians living in the region, the embassy said.

Belarus also has the office of the Honorary Consul in Rijeka. Its consular district extends to Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
