MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - A joint meeting of the Belarusian and Russian organizing committees for the 11th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia was held via a video link on 15 May, BelTA has learned.
Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova is making a working trip to Polotsk to inspect the course of preparations for the 11th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia.
The 11th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia will be held on June 27-28 and themed around the topic "The role of interregional cooperation in building an innovative economy of the Union State".
"The purpose of today's event is to agree on the conceptual things regarding the forum," said Sergei Khomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 11th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia. "The 11th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia will span three cities of Belarus: Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk."
The forum will run nine sections: "Effective enforcement of legislation as the most important factor of Union State integration", "Interregional cooperation as the driver of progressive development of the Union State of Belarus and Russia", "Innovative medicine and pharmacy in the Union State: priority areas and development prospects","Innovations in higher education and science: experience and prospects of cooperation of the Union State", "Cooperation between Belarus and Russia in innovations in the international context", "Ensuring technological independence of Belarus and Russia on the basis of innovations in the manufacturing sector", "Latest technologies in the agricultural industry of Belarus and Russia, scientific and personnel support", "Cooperation between Belarus and Russia in the light industry: from ideas to innovations", "Cultural and humanitarian cooperation and tourism as the factors in strengthening the interaction between the regions of Belarus and Russia".
"On the first day of the forum on 27 June we will hold the thematic breakout sessions in Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk. The events on 27 June include a special panel session of the supervisory agencies of Belarus and Russia, a joint meeting of the governing bodies of the Youth Council under the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Chamber of Young Legislators under the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, events with the participation of the chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus and Russia. A protocol event of the official delegations and a concert program are scheduled for the evening of the same day," Sergei Khomenko said. “On the second day, 28 June, Speaker of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko will meet with the heads of the regional authorities of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. A plenary session is also scheduled for 28 June. Cooperation agreements and contracts are expected to be signed on the sidelines of the forum."
Exhibitions, fairs, and workshops will be held during the forum.
