MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discuss Belarus-Russia bilateral cooperation and interaction in the integration associations over phone, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Vladimir Makei informed Sergey Lavrov about the development of the situation in the country and the upcoming important political events in Belarus. The parties discussed the current agenda of the bilateral cooperation in politics, trade, and economy and interaction in the Union State [of Belarus and Russia] and the integration associations,” the press service said.
The foreign ministers also touched upon on the issues of international security and arms control. Sergey Lavrov informed his Belarusian counterpart about Russia's approaches to various aspects of these matters. “The parties agreed to continue harmonizing approaches and cooperating in these matters,” the press service noted.
Sergey Lavrov also extended Diplomats Day greetings to Vladimir Makei and Belarusian diplomats.
