MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Lebanese President Joseph Aoun conveyed his best wishes to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko as he met with Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov. The Lebanese president also said that he would definitely accept his invitation to visit Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Joseph Aoun reiterated his readiness to cooperate with Belarus in politics, trade, economy, security, as well as on international platforms.
He highlighted the long-standing friendship between Lebanese and Belarusian peoples and mentioned the fact that many Lebanese nationals study in Belarus.
The Belarusian foreign minister drew attention to the similarities between Belarus and Lebanon. They are both multi-ethnic and multi-faith countries that are fully aware of the importance of pursuing a balanced and thoughtful policy. He also emphasized that Minsk is ready to scale up bilateral cooperation in an atmosphere of mutual respect, to implement joint humanitarian, trade and economic projects, and support each other on international platforms.
The Belarusian delegation is set to hold meetings at government agencies of Lebanon.
