Indian Deputy FM sees collective action as crucial for maintaining stability of global situation

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) - The consequences of the profound transformations taking place in the world are affecting all countries, India’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sibi George said at the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, BelTA has learned.
“We have gathered here today at a time when the international situation is undergoing a series of profound transformations. The consequences of this situation are affecting all countries in the world. We are discussing how all these events may impact the geopolitical landscape and how we can address the vast number of challenges that exist in the modern world,” Sibi George said.

The deputy minister added: “We believe that greater attention must be paid to ensuring the resilience of supply chains, as collective action is particularly crucial for maintaining the stability of the global situation. The complexity of the international situation is further compounded by challenges in the technological sector, trade, tariff disputes, and we also see threats from transnational terrorism. All of this demands a very clear response from us and the search for answers. We must seek them through international cooperation. Especially when we are all facing numerous challenges. Only together can we resolve them effectively.”

According to Sibi George, it is evident that outdated organizations cannot account for the full complexity of the current situation. In this regard, he highlighted five key points that would help clarify how to achieve peaceful coexistence and ensure a world order for all countries. “Transnational terrorism remains the most serious challenge humanity faces,” Sibi George stated. “Terrorism is a shared threat that we all confront.”

“We must pay more attention to the methods of conducting transactions between states. They are significantly altering our global financial atmosphere. We must be more vigilant about the global competition landscape, as massive changes in this area could lead to strategic consequences for a large number of countries,” he outlined as the second point. “We need to enhance international cooperation to ensure the economic stability and resilience of countries that, for example, depend on exports or imports from a single market or similar situations.”

Sibi George noted that it is also necessary to focus on the efficient operation of transport corridors, which can unlock the continent's full trade potential: “We are prepared to collaborate on enhancing the efficiency of these corridors across the continent, as we believe that logistics and transport systems can become principles that promote transparency, broader participation, clearer adherence to local priorities, financial stability, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our countries.”

The deputy minister noted that another important fact is that the world is facing unprecedented technological development, emphasizing that this issue must also be addressed collectively.

“The fifth point I want to mention is the challenges facing the Global South,” Sibi George said. “Currently, India is implementing approximately 600 development projects in cooperation with 78 countries. The areas are highly diverse, including trade, culture, energy, engineering, healthcare, sports, science, IT, humanitarian aid, and the preservation of cultural heritage.” He highlighted that a number of initiatives involving India focus on improving the quality of life, well-being, and economic development of Global South countries. He also added that India is contributing to responses and actions addressing climate change and related issues.

As Sibi George noted, in this multipolar world, cooperation with Eurasian countries is crucial: “It plays a critically important role in addressing the diverse challenges faced by our regions.”

"The discussions at this conference are an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the various security issues and priorities of the Eurasian region and countries beyond it,” he summarized.
