MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) - The state is interested in the civil society to express their initiatives more actively, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he met with representatives of Lithuania's civil society in Minsk on 18 January, BelTA has learned.
“Some says that we have a dictatorship here, but believe me we are interested in an alternative opinion. Moreover, we are interested in civil society to express their initiatives and alternative views more actively. It is a well known fact that truth is born in a argument,” said Vladimir Makei.
In his words, it is especially important now when Belarus is transforming its political system, amending its Constitution.
“We are ready to listen to and hear an alternative opinion of civil society. It is clear that this opinion should be constructive and aimed at preserving the statehood of Belarus, the progressive development of the state and society,” the minister stressed.
