Belaya Rus to participate in all stages of parliamentary elections in Belarus

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – The national public association Belaya Rus will take an active part in all stages of the parliamentary elections, Chairman of Belaya Rus Gennady Davydko told BelTA.

He stressed that Belaya Rus aims to be represented at all levels as observers and members of election commissions. Around 80 representatives of the association will stand for election.

Gennady Davydko pointed out that the parliament needs “decent people who will not just shout, but work”. He noted that the president said that the seventh convocation will face challenging tasks set by the times and the Belarusian people, for example, amendments to the Constitution.

Belaya Rus has also prepared suggestions regarding possible amendments to the electoral law and hopes to continue working on them once its representatives have been elected to the parliament.

On 17 August, the national public association Belaya Rus held a forum dedicated to the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation. The event brought together around 300 members from all over the country in Minsk. The program of the forum included a workshop on the role of public associations in the Belarusian electoral system. Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina took part in the workshop. She spoke about specific features and major stages of the current election campaign. The national council of Belaya Rus will also hold an expanded meeting to discuss the participation of Belaya Rus in the election campaign.
