Belarus hails SCO's growing role in regional security

MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) - On 8 September, Belarusian Consul General in Shanghai Andrei Andreev took part in the 15th International Conference on Central Asia and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Consulate General in Shanghai.

"In his speech, Andrei Andreev hailed the growing role of the SCO in addressing pressing issues of security and socio-economic development in the region," the Consulate General said.

The Consul General also urged the SCO to deepen cooperation and develop common approaches together with Eurasian regional organizations, including the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international organization founded on 15 June 2001. The current Secretary General is Vladimir Norov. Belarus has an observer country in the SCO.
