One District, One Project initiative focuses on social, economic development, import substitution

MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) - Dmitry Klimenkov, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Investment and Construction Activities of the Economy Ministry, named the main goals set by One District, One Project initiative in a new episode of BelTA’s The Nation Speaks project.

When setting up a new production facility as part of One District, One Project initiative, the major goal is the social and economic development of the region, Dmitry Klimenkov said. “This includes the creation of jobs, retention of personnel in a particular region, and the preservation of competencies of this region. In addition, among the goals is also the development of new export-oriented products, development of related industries. Any production contributes to the development of related industries - transportation, logistics, trade, energy, and services,” he explained.

Import substitution is important when creating new products under current conditions. “Our country has always been export-oriented. When considering new projects, we make sure they correspond to this goal as well,” Dmitry Klimenkov emphasized.
