Tomasz Szmydt: USA and its allies understand that situation in Ukraine is deplorable now

MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) - The United States and its allies understand that the situation in Ukraine is deplorable and extremely disadvantageous, Polish dissident, judge Tomasz Szmydt said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel on 11 May, BelTA reports.

"From what I can see the meeting on Ukraine in Switzerland, where they did not invite Russia, will be consultations to determine the current state of Ukraine," Tomasz Schmidt said. "The United States and its allies understand that now its situation is deplorable and extremely disadvantageous."

At the same time, prolonging the war also becomes unprofitable for a number of reasons. "I will not say what is happening behind the scenes. But if they fail to reach an agreement with Russia, there will be two options left: either to let the conflict fade away or to escalate. The latter is more likely," the judge said.

Tomasz Szmydt was asked to make a forecast about the likelihood of Poland being drawn into the war. "50/50 depending on how the negotiations go," he stressed. “There is one politician who does not want Poland to be drawn into the war. I will not mention his name, so as not to do harm."
