Belarus gets observer status in APA

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) - Belarus has been granted observer status in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA). The relevant decision was taken at the plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly on “The Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy in Strengthening Multilateral Cooperation in Asia”, BelTA has learned.

“We consistently promote international cooperation on inter-parliamentary platforms. Today's event - Belarus receiving the observer status in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly - actually completes the cycle of our involvement in all major regional inter-parliamentary structures,” said Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik. “In October, we submitted an official application for the observer status in this respected organization.
