MOGILEV, 13 January (BelTA) - Residents of Mogilev and visitors to the city can observe a large gathering of ducks on the ponds in the Pechersk Forest Park. The unfrozen ponds serve as an ideal wintering spot.
Mallards are the most commonly observed ducks on the water bodies of Mogilev Oblast. “The mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) is the most widespread species fitting within the large Anatidae family of the order Anseriformes, in the Republic of Belarus. It is also the duck species best adapted to cold conditions and to living in close proximity to humans.”
