Orsha-based Zavod PAK makes pilot batch of water deferrization stations

VITEBSK, 24 February (BelTA) – The Orsha-based company OAO Zavod PAK has started making standard modular water deferrization stations with assistance of the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ and the Applied Science Center for Materials Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, BelTA learned from the company's Deputy Director Anton Voronko.

The manufacturing and assembly of the new products is in full swing in the company's existing shop. The company has already made the first pilot batch of five water deferrization stations. Three of them have passed the necessary tests while the other two will do so soon. After that the company intends to participate in tenders for building water deferrization stations all over the country on general terms.

Anton Voronko remarked: “The products are in demand on the market due to the implementation of the subprogram Clean Water of the government program Comfortable Housing and Favorable Environment for 2016-2020. If we optimize costs and rack up the output, the price will be competitive and within range of our competitors.”

Zavod PAK intends to make about 50 water deferrization stations in 2020. The output will be tuned to match the demand on the market later on.

“Making this product is important for diversifying the output of the Orsha-based enterprise since components for BelAZ haul trucks account for about 85% of the output now,” the Zavod PAK deputy director noted.

An investment project to set up a ring rolling facility after reconstructing some of the manufacturing premises will substantially change the economic state of the enterprise. The project's approximate cost is close to $69.8 million. Its implementation began in late 2019. The new manufacturing division is expected to reach the designed output capacity in 2023.

The construction of Zavod PAK (automatic control equipment plant) began in 1981. Initially the enterprise specialized in making control and measurement equipment for mechanical engineering enterprises. Only 20% of the designed output capacity was commissioned in 1987. Later on the enterprise was repurposed, including for the sake of making parts for agricultural machines. After the head of state gave instructions on the comprehensive development of Orsha District and after the enterprise was merged with the holding company BelAZ in February 2019, the enterprise's output rose considerably, problems with sales were resolved, the enterprise started making profits, managed to raise salaries and create new jobs.

In 2019 Zavod PAK made Br7.3 million worth of merchandise, four times as much as in 2018. The profitability of sales totaled 6.9%. The nominal accrued average monthly salary reached Br741.8. It reached Br913 in January 2020 according to preliminary estimates. In 2020 it is supposed to exceed Br1,000.
