MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – Belarusian players have reached the round of Last 16 at the US Open 2022, BelTA has learned.
Belarus' world number 26 Victoria Azarenka cruised into round four past Croatia's world number 54 Petra Martic, 6-3, 6-0, in an hour and 20 minutes. The Belarusian will next face world number 22 Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic for a place in the quarterfinal.
Belarus' world number 6 Aryna Sabalenka needed an hour to shake off world number 131 Clara Burel of France, 6-0, 6-2. The Belarusian will next play world number 19 Danielle Collins of the United States.
Belarus' world number 73 Ilya Ivashka battled through Italy's world number 30 Lorenzo Musetti, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, in two hours and 45 minutes. The Belarusian will next take on Italy's world number 13 Jannik Sinner.
