MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) - Belarusian Viktoryia Radzkova won a gold medal at the European U23 Wrestling Championship in Zrenjanin, Serbia, BelTA has learned.
Viktoryia Radzkova secured victory in the -72kg. In the qualification round, the Belarusian defeated Laura Köhler of Germany; in the second round, she got past Kristina Bratchikova from Russia; and in the semifinal, she overcame Greta Tverskyte from Lithuania. In the final, Viktoryia left no chance for Veronika Vilk from Croatia, winning 11:0. Previously, Viktoryia Radzkova had won bronze medals twice at the European and World Youth Championships; Viktoryia also has a gold medal from the Junior (U20) European Championship.
Also on March 13, Belarusians Aryna Dzemchanka (-57kg) and Kseniya Tsiarenia (-65 kg) became European U23 champions, while the day before Alina Shauchuk (-68kg) celebrated success. After five days of the tournament in Serbia, Team Belarus has bagged seven medals (5 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze). A total of more than 400 athletes from 37 countries are competing in the tournament.
