MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Egypt are working on organizing a direct flight between Cairo and Minsk, Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Minister Artur Karpovich told reporters following the 8th meeting of the Belarus-Egypt joint trade commission, BelTA has learned.
"A new initiative is the organization of a direct flight between Cairo and Minsk," he said, adding that direct flights will contribute to the development of tourism.
This matter was included in the protocol signed following the 8th meeting of the Belarus-Egypt joint trade commission. As a result, Belarusians will be able to travel to Egypt more often and at lower cost.
“We discussed with the minister [of investment and foreign trade of Egypt] the possibility of granting certain preferences to the Republic of Belarus for tourist packages, so that our citizens would increasingly choose to vacation in Egypt,” Artur Karpovich said.
The previous meeting of the Belarus-Egypt joint trade commission took place in Cairo in 2023.
A delegation of the Arab Republic of Egypt headed by Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh is visiting Belarus from 4 to 8 May. The Belarus-Egypt business forum is scheduled for 7 May.
