MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Egypt seeks to procure Belarusian machinery, boost tourist arrivals, and launch joint agricultural projects, Mohamed Farid Saleh, Egypt’s Investment and Foreign Trade Minister and co-chair of the Belarus-Egypt joint trade commission, told journalists in Minsk following the 8th meeting of the commission, BelTA has learned.
Mohamed Farid Saleh thanked the Belarusian side for the high-level organization of the visit. Representatives from 24 companies attended the session on 6 May, resulting in several packages of cooperation documents being prepared.
“Talks covered industrial cooperation and machinery supplies. I would also like to highlight the high quality of dairy products produced in your country. We discussed projects in agriculture, food, and woodworking, as well as the export of Belarusian goods to other markets,” Mohamed Farid Saleh said.
Another important area is tourism. “We want to increase the flow of tourists to Egypt. We will develop new projects to boost the interest of Belarusian citizens in visiting Egypt and encourage them to stay longer in our country,” he noted.
Responding to a question about which machinery is in demand, Mohamed Farid Saleh singled out certain models of buses and tractors. The parties are considering a return to establishing assembly plants. Such projects were suspended during the post-COVID period. Now they want to breathe new life into them.
The delegation from the Arab Republic of Egypt is visiting Belarus on 4-8 May. The program of the visit for 7 May includes the Belarusian-Egyptian business forum.
