"On Point"
MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Several things have helped Iran to hold its own in the conflict against the United States and Israel, Russian military observer of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, Colonel (retired) Viktor Baranets said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s channel.
“Iran is very adept at using asymmetric methods to fight the enemy. One such method was the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz. Another was striking U.S. bases in the region. This terrified them [the Americans. This is also a wise tactic,” Viktor Baranets said.
As the military observer emphasized, Iran’s example showed that the course of hostilities is not always determined by the number of tanks and aircraft. “Sometimes smart strategic thinking is what decides the outcome,” he stated.
Viktor Baranets drew attention to numerous statements by U.S. President Donald Trump about victory over Iran, which do not correspond to reality. “If that is the case, then why is the American flag not yet flying over Tehran? It is not flying, and it never will. After all the serious wars, Iran has grown wiser and managed to hide its army in deep shafts and corridors that the American have not yet reached with their bombs,' the military observer said.
In his opinion, the Iranian army has not only not been broken, but also remains capable of offering further resistance to the United States and Israel. This conflict has now entered a protracted, low-intensity phase and is tied to the situation unfolding in the Strait of Hormuz.
