26 medals for Team Belarus at sambo tournament for prizes of Belarusian president in Minsk

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) - The 29th International Sambo Tournament for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus ended in Minsk, BelTA learned.

For two days athletes competed in 21 medal events (seven in men's, women's and combat sambo each). On Wednesday, Belarusian sambo wrestlers won three gold and silver medals and also seven bronze medals. Karyna Shut (-80kg), Yauheni Rebikau (-58kg, combat sambo) and Eduard Muravitsky (-88kg, combat sambo) won the titles in their weight categories.Silver medalists were Daniela Zhdan (-65kg), Ilya Lomivorotov (-79kg) and Roman Damiev (+98kg, combat sambo). Bronze medalists were Igor Miroevsky (-64kg), Polina Gramotneva, Maryana Zhukovets (-80kg), Egor Gornostay (-71kg, combat sambo), Roman Manishko, Zakhar Toropov (-88kg, combat sambo) and Aleksei Dubovik (+98kg, combat sambo).

The day before, Belarusian athletes also won 13 awards (3-2-8). All in all, Team Belarus claimed 26 medals: 6 gold, 5 silver and 15 bronze medals. In total, more than 200 sambo wrestlers from Belarus, Armenia, Bulgaria, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan took part in the 29th International Sambo Tournament for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
