UAE plans bigger presence at Minsk book fair next year

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) - The UAE plans to bring its writers to the Minsk International Book Fair, Belarusian Deputy Information Minister Denis Yezersky told journalists as he summarized the results of the 32nd Minsk International Book Fair, BelTA learned.

“We are pleased that the exhibition draws interest, including among foreign audiences and participants,” Denis Yezersky said and noted that the United Arab Emirates, for example, participated in the Minsk book fair for the first time.

He noted that the UAE Embassy is planning to participate in the exhibition next year. Moreover, the format of participation may be expanded.

“We had a very long conversation with the ambassador. This year the Ambassador exmained how other countries presented themselves and assured us that next year the UAE will bring its men of letters, show their creativity and their best books,” Denis Yezersky said adding that the UEA stand will be bigger and more interesting at the next exhibition.

According to him, it's nice when embassies and foreign book producers use the Minsk book fair to network and organize interesting events. As a result, joint projects come into being, for example, with the Union of Writers of Belarus.

“Belarusian authors are translated into the national languages of those countries that are interested in our culture. We translate writers from foreign countries. Our readers learn something new for themselves. Probably, it's worth holding such events for the sake of it along,” he added.
