MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Yelena Parshuto, Deputy Director General for Tourism at the Belarustourist tourist and excursion enterprise, named the most popular excursions in Belarus at the off-site press event “Excursion about excursions” dedicated to International Tourist Guide Day, BelTA has learned.
“The success of an excursion depends 70% on a tour guide (especially when it comes to inbound tourism). This person introduces visitors to our country, our culture, nature,” Yelena Parshuto noted.
Both foreigners and locals are eager to explore Belarus. Moreover, nature-oriented tourism is becoming increasingly popular. Historical and cultural tours are always in demand among foreigners. They are followed by industrial tours. “Visitors want to learn more about Belarusian brands and their history, to see the manufacturing process and taste local products. And, of course, they are interested in Belarusian traditions, including songs, dances, customs, cuisine,” Yelena Parshuto said.
Despite the fact that the number of certified tour guides is growing, there are still not enough of them to meet the demand. “Such professionals are in demand, and today the industry is experiencing a certain deficit of specialists. The number of arrivals is on the up and up. This year we are going to be fully booked for the summer season. Excursions to places related to the Great Patriotic War are in particular demand. About 80% of tour guides who work in this area have already been booked,” Yelena Parshuto remarked.
