
LANZHOU, 21 May (BelTA) – With the full implementation of the Belt and Road initiative, cooperation between Gansu and Belarus has also entered a new stage, Dai Chao, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of Gansu Province, told the media, BelTA has learned.
“China and Belarus boast long-standing friendship," Dai Chao said. “Under the strategic leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, the relations of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Belarus have been rapidly developing rapidly in recent years. The two countries maintain close high-level contacts, with friendship between the peoples deepening, and cooperation in various fields yielding fruitful results.”
In his words, the relations between Gansu Province and Belarus have a long history. “Back in 2007, Gansu Province and Grodno Oblast signed an agreement to establish friendly relations. With the full implementation of the Belt and Road initiative, the cooperation between Gansu and Belarus has also entered a new stage, with the sides maintaining friendly and close exchanges, cooperation in investment, trade and economic, cultural and educational sectors,” the representative of Gansu Province said.
He also drew attention to the importance of exchanging visits: “In August 2023, Zhang Yongxia, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee, led a delegation to Belarus. The visit contributed to the establishment of a contact point between the Gansu Provincial Center for International Communications and the Belarusian Union of Journalists.”
“In July 2024, Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Karanik [currently Deputy Prime Minister] led a delegation to Gansu. The Program of Cooperation between Gansu Province and Grodno Oblast for 2024-2026 was signed back then. In October, Zhang Xiaoqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Lanzhou Municipal Committee, was invited to Belarus and successfully presented the opportunities for trade and economic cooperation between Lanzhou and Minsk,” Dai Chao said.
In his words, the exchange of visits is an effective mechanism for the development of the whole range of Belarusian-Chinese cooperation.
