Political analyst sees militarization as possible way out of current crisis for EU economy

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – Militarization is a possible way out of the current crisis for the EU economy, political scientist Vladimir Sergiyenko (Germany) said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
“Europe will have no other choice but to normalize relations with its eastern neighbors - Belarus and Russia. I am not talking about the dwarf Baltic states. I am talking about the big players: Poland, Germany, and France. They need, for example, fertilizers, stocks of them. I do not rule out redistributing of manufacturing capacities,” Vladimir Sergiyenko said.

According to the political analyst, the European Union has a choice. European states can build relations with China, which is fraught with threats to their own economies. Or the EU can establish cooperation with other trading partners that are less aggressive in the market but at the same time consistent. “This is the classic. This is something the Union State has always offered - starting with fertilizers and ending with electronics assembly,” Vladimir Sergiyenko stressed.

Nevertheless, he added, the current policy by European leaders can be compared to “Potemkin villages”. The European Union may not choose rapprochement with the Union State, but will opt for the militarization of economy even without the participation of the United States. “They will not start the war. But they will pretend that war will start tomorrow. This is also a way out for Europe's economy. What can stop them? Europe understands only force,” the political scientist stated.
