16 December is the 39th day of refugees at the border. Now they are living in the accommodation facility in the Bruzgi transport and logistics center near the Belarusian-Polish border. There are about 800 people here, 40% of whom are women and children.
"We have a working atmosphere here. All services that provide protection, security and food to people are working in a routine mode. Every day, about 50 people work here 24/7 to provide for people," Igor Gedich said. He stressed that the work to give people hot meals, grocery packages and essentials continues.
"Now we are fulfilling the requests of refugees who apply to the Red Cross. Yesterday, for example, we gave out warm footwear, pacifiers for babies. All in all, about 162 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been distributed to refugees. This is not only food, but also about 5,000 blankets, about 2,000 pairs of shoes and other essentials," he said.
Medical help is available in the shelter24/7. For the past 24 hours about 80 people sought consultative help. Five children and seven adults are currently being treated in Grodno hospitals.
