Molostov: Belarusian border service effectively guards state border amid challenging conditions

MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) - The border guard service is effectively fulfilling its border protection duties amid a challenging situation,Chairman of the Belarusian State Border Committee Major General Konstantin Molostov said during a regular meeting of the State Border Commission under the Council of Ministers, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Border Committee.

According to the press service, on 21 January, the State Border Commission under the Council of Ministers held a regular meeting which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak. The meeting was attended by  Chairman of the State Border Committee Major General Konstantin Molostov, senior officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Forestry Ministry, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the State Customs Committee. Representatives from the State Secretariat of the Security Council, the Defense Ministry of, other relevant government agencies, and the chairpersons of commissions on state border policy in the border regions were also present.

The commission members and invited guests discussed the situation developing at the state border and the State Border Commission's performance in 2025. They also reviewed a number of issues related to ensuring border security, including in line with the head of state's directives on enhancing engineering infrastructure along the border with Ukraine, implementing government decisions on the construction and reconstruction of border infrastructure facilities such as roads and bridges and ensuring fire protection for the forests of the Polesie State Radiation and Ecology Reserve. The meeting participants summarized the work of the regional commissions on state border policy for 2025.

In his speech, the chairman of the State Border Committee emphasized that amid the tense situation around Belarus , border service agencies are fully executing the range of tasks assigned for the protection of the state border, working in close coordination with all entities responsible for ensuring border security.

“Taking this opportunity, I would like to express gratitude to the regional executive committees, represented by their deputy chairpersons, for their significant contributions to the development of state border and border-area infrastructure, their work with volunteer squads, their assistance in improving the living conditions of our servicemen, and overall, for implementing measures to ensure border security in the regions. Substantial support in safeguarding the state border is provided by the people living in the frontier areas, including volunteer squads under the guidance of local authorities. Furthermore, I would like to extend special thanks to the Forestry Ministry, which, in the interests of ensuring border security, assists in creating conditions for the development of engineering infrastructure along the state border,” Konstantin Molostov said.

The chairman of the commission, Anatoly Sivak, noted that all issues requiring government attention were reviewed at today's meeting, and the work of the State Border Commission under the Council of Ministers was recognized as effective. The commission’s work plan for 2026 was also discussed. “I see constructive interaction taking shape between local units of the State Border Committee and appropriate units of state bodies, as well as regional executive committees. We must step up this work,” he said.
Following the meeting, a protocol was prepared outlining necessary instructions for responsible officials and their deadlines for completion.-
