MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) - The 4th Minsk International Circus Art Festival will take place at the Belarusian State Circus on 17-20 September, Director of the Belarusian State Circus Vladimir Shaban told BelTA.

According to Vladimir Shaban, the central event of this year for the Belarusian State Circus will be the 4th Minsk International Circus Art Festival. It will be held in autumn 17-20 September.

“We have already received numerous applications from potential participants. The festival takes place every two years. The previous edition saw representatives from 17 countries, and more than 10 countries have already submitted applications for this year. We are pleased to welcome them. Circuses from Australia, Latin America, and Israel have expressed interest, and performers from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have also responded; their level of training is very high,” Vladimir Shaban said.

Preparations for the festival are underway alongside the summer circus program, which is set to launch on 14 June. “In summer, tiger trainer Bruno Toni from Italy’s legendary Toni circus dynasty will come to us. Their performance is simply magnificent. We also plan to host the Tashkenbayevs’ camels.  We have long dreamed of having them here, and now it will finally happen. We always strive to bring our audience interesting and exotic performances, which is why we try to attract renowned circus figures from around the world. I am confident that the summer program will be excellent and will flow smoothly into the festival in the autumn," Vladimir Shaban  said.

World Circus Day is celebrated every third Saturday of April, uniting fans of art and spectacle. This year it fell on 18 April. The holiday was established in 2010, when 25 countries celebrated it; in 2011, there were already 50 countries. Belarus joined the European Circus Association (ECA) in 2017. Since then, World Circus Day has been included in the annual calendar of festive events.
