Minsk taxi services promise to keep prices in check during European Games

MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) – The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) urges passengers to report taxi overcharge cases during the 2nd European Games and promises to take action within the scope of its competence, BelTA learned from the MART press service.

MART, the Transport and Communications Ministry, the Minsk city authorities on the one hand and the city's largest taxi dispatching services signed a memorandum on 2 November 2018 to cap tax services fees during the 2nd European Games 2019. According to its terms, for the period from 15 June to 5 July 2019 the taxi services shall charge as much as they did on 1 April 2019.

“The level of prices during the 2nd European Games has been guaranteed only by the taxi dispatching services that have signed the memorandum. Other taxi services operate their own tariffs,” the MART press service said. The list of taxi dispatching services that have signed the memorandum has been posted on the official website of the ministry. Their vehicles will be marked with a special logo.

One can complain to MART about inflated prices by sending an email or a letter to the mail address: 8 Kirova Street, Bldg. 1, Minsk, 220030. For the complaint to be considered on its merits an applicant must provide contact information: name, address, place of residence or stay. When filing an e-mail it is important to indicate the e-mail address of the applicant; when filing a written complaint a signature of a citizen (citizens) is a must. An applicant must describe the violation, indicate the date, time and route of the trip, name of the carrier (taxi service, information system), number plate of the vehicle and the make (model) of the car. It is also important to indicate the presence of the logo denoting the carrier.

Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June.
