Military observer: Europe is no longer part of Russia-Ukraine negotiations

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Russia has managed to exclude Europe from the negotiation process in the course of organizing the talks with Ukraine. It is a clear victory on the part of Russian politicians and diplomats. The Russian military observer with the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, Colonel (retired) Viktor Baranets made the statement in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project V Teme [On Point].
Viktor Baranets said: “All of us have been looking forward to concrete and precise negotiations [between Russia and Ukraine]. And look what happened: Ukrainians didn’t come on time, [Ukraine President Vladimir] Zelensky didn’t like the composition of the delegation… [U.S. President Donald] Trump was approached. Trump liked the composition of the Russian delegation. But there is one thing of fundamental importance regarding the negotiations. The Kremlin has broken the organization scheme.”

According to the expert, Vladimir Zelensky would love representatives of the UK, France, Germany, and Poland to sit at the Moscow-Kiev negotiation table. Russia did not let it happen. Viktor Baranets believes it is a very serious step that can be seen as a victory on the part of Russian politicians and diplomats.
“We have excluded Europe from these negotiations,” the military expert stressed. He added that Vladimir Zelensky had consulted with his European allies. It happened before the negotiations, in the course of the negotiations, and after the negotiations were completed. “They say Zelensky has four mobile phones to stay in touch with Paris, London, Washington, and so on. Before making a statement he dials a number and then follows the instructions. So far we don’t have information that Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] calls Xi Jinping. We have been pursuing an independent policy and it is obvious,” Viktor Baranets concluded.
