CSTO countries discuss training of collective security forces

MOSCOW, 15 March (BelTA) – Consultations about the organization of joint training events for command and control bodies as well as units of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) collective security system forces in 2021 took place in the CSTO Joint Staff on 15 March using videoconference technologies, BelTA has learned.

Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Major-General Anatoly Sidorov noted that the Central Asia region is the area where most of the efforts will be concentrated in 2021 as far as joint combat training is concerned. Participants of the videoconference meeting discussed the organization of a joint business game of the CSTO Secretariat, the CSTO Joint Staff, and operations groups of interested government agencies and ministries of the CSTO member states. The sides discussed proposals of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan regarding the organization of special exercises Eshelon [Echelon] 2021 and Poisk [Search] 2021, the joint exercise Vzaimodeistviye [Interaction] 2021. A report by a representative of the Central Military District of the Armed Forces of Russia regarding the organization of the joint exercise Nerushimoye Bratstvo [Indestructible Brotherhood] 2021 was presented.

As a result of the consultations the sides agreed to use the guidelines developed by the CSTO Joint Staff for the strategic army exercise Boyevoye Bratstvo [Combat Brotherhood] 2021 in the course of organizing joint and special exercises.

Representatives of the defense ministries of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, the CSTO Secretariat, and the CSTO Joint Staff took part in the event.
