MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian state television and radio company Belteleradiocompany and the Belarusian national film studio Belarusfilm intend to jointly produce a movie and a TV series, BelTA learned from the TV channel Belarus One.
Belteleradiocompany’s head Ivan Eismont said: “Certain decisions have been made at the state level to make it happen. Including decisions on financing. We would like to get down to it soon. I am talking about all the main, large state-run television and radio companies. Certainly, ideally we would like to do it at Belarusfilm premises. Possibly together with Belarusfilm. Or Belarusfilm could make it to our order. Various options are available but it is a totally new story for Belarus.”
BelTA reported earlier that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko visited the Belarusian national film studio Belarusfilm on 10 June where he hosted a government conference to discuss the development of the national movie industry. The state of affairs at the film studio and in the movie industry as a whole is extremely unsatisfactory and the returns are negative, the head of state stated.
“Mark my words: there will be no extra money. Nobody will give you money for some new team. If you and the culture minister don’t sort it out by 1 September, the toughest decisions will be made. And don’t think that you will simply lose your jobs,” the Belarusian leader warned.
