MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) - The Taste of Belarus tasting event has made part of the Big Tourism Week in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
Dmitry Skvorchevsky, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Union of Tourism Industry, commented on the tasting event. “We wanted to introduce not only foreign visitors but also Belarusians to interesting local dishes of Belarusian cuisine. Some of them even have the status of intangible cultural heritage of the country,” he explained.
The presentation featured dishes from various corners of Belarus. The mini-journey through the regions during the tasting event was intended to show that local cuisine acts as a magnet for tourists. “Dishes from Miory District were presented, where cranberries are a key ingredient. The Yelnya swamp is famous for them. It’s a very popular location for domestic tourism. Visitors could try cranberry bread, sausage, and various types of cranberry juice,” said Dmitry Skvorchevsky. “Voronovo District of Grodno Oblast also presented its dishes - draniki (in their local version), which visitors could sample.”

People’s Artist of Russia Edgard Zapashny attended the event as a special guest. “For those who are in Belarus for the first time, I confidently state: you will really like it here, and you will want to come back,” he said.
According to the People’s Artist of Russia, he is happy that many events are now taking place at various Belarusian venues. He also noted that Belarus is one of the safest places. “Probably, it is the safest place right now, generally speaking. Minsk is beautiful, as are all other cities in Belarus,” he added.
The Big Tourism Week is taking place in Minsk these days. A series of key events for the hospitality industry are scheduled at several venues in the Belarusian capital through 11 April. The main events are the 4th Belarusian-Russian Tourism Congress, the international forum Travel Hub Commonwealth, and the 28th International Exhibition-Fair of Tourism Services Leisure 2026. The Big Tourism Week program also includes the specialized Expo HORECA Minsk exhibition, the Taste of Belarus project, and other events.
