GRODNO, 10 April (BelTA) - Chairman of the Belarusian State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky visited the parking areas for Lithuanian vehicles to inspect their departure, BelTA has learned.

Special areas were designated for Lithuanian-registered vehicles that got stranded in Belarus because of the unfriendly actions by Lithuania.

The head of the State Customs Committee inspected the border checkpoints Kamenny Log and Berestovitsa, where he spoke with drivers. Many are making their second or third trip driving out the remaining semi‑trailers. Some have only just arrived due to delays in paying parking fees or because of a lack of available prime mover trucks and are planning to take several vehicles at once. During their conversation with Vladimir Orlovsky the drivers noted that they have no issues with the organization of the process on the Belarusian side.

The process started on 23 March after the head of state made a decision to allow Lithuanian-registered vehicles to leave Belarus having lowered parking fees.

Today, almost three‑quarters of the road trailers, tractors and semi‑trailers have left the parking areas. Parking fees have been paid for 1,400 vehicles, about 100 of which are waiting on Belarus’ border to enter Lithuania. The remaining 500 vehicles are expected to leave Belarus soon.
