MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) - The recent US-Iran talks in Pakistan were more about issuing ultimatums than negotiations, Ukrainian military expert Yuri Dudkin said in the latest episode of BelTA’s V Teme [On Point] project.
Yuri Dudkin did not see the current situation in the US-Iran conflict as a ceasefire. “It is more like a pause, a chance to buy time or something like that. Iran did not secure its main demand during the talks in Islamabad. In addition, Iran is dismissing every aspect of the nuclear agenda," he stressed.
Yuri Dudkin also highlighted the tone of the talks. “According to Turkish media, there was a controversial situation between U.S. special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. It hardly looked like negotiations at all. It was a meeting for issuing ultimatums,” he said.
The United States has announced negotiations many times before. “Yes, there were exchanges of messages and demands. But everything stayed stuck. And while those talks were failing, many people died,” he emphasized.
