Zelensky described as ‘amorphous' person

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr talked about his attitude to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the VGTRK journalist, radio and TV host Vladimir Soloviev, BelTA has learned.

During the conversation, the journalist asked at what point Aleksandr Lukashenko, who initially supported Ukrainian President of Volodymyr Zelensky, got disappointed in him and realized that "something was wrong."

"You know, Volodya, you are a person with a strong character, but he is not," the Belarusian leader replied to Vladimir Soloviev. “I would not say that he is a person who hates the entire Soviet past, who does not commemorate the war history or the Holocaust, him being as a Jew. I wouldn't say so. He's just an amorphous person."

Describing the statements and actions of the Ukrainian president, including regarding Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko said: "I treated him kindly. I sported him, gave him tips. I treated everybody that way." Russian President Vladimir Putin shared this attitude, according to Aleksandr Lukashenko. He believed that Volodymyr Zelensky should be given a chance to prove himself.

"At what point did you get disappointed in Zelensky? When did you realize that something was wrong?" the journalist asked.

"I don't remember the exact point. These things had been piling up. It generally takes me time for me to get disappointed. I always look for good things in a person. I treated Zelensky like this: young, needs time to understand this or that and so on. These things had been accumulating. But when he openly began to invite the U.S. over there and declare Russia and Belarus as enemies, I thought that he was losing it," the Belarusian leader said.
