Nikolai Snopkov appointed first deputy prime minister of Belarus

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has appointed Nikolai Snopkov First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I've decided to recall him from the People's Republic of China. He worked as an ambassador over there. I think my Chinese friends will understand me. Because in this period when we are renewing the government composition to a large degree, the government work experience of these elders is important.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned the gradual growth of Nikolai Snopkov as an executive thanks to all the steps of the career ladder he had had to climb. “He came from below. His experience and knowledge will come in handy. Do you remember that he was heavily in favor of the pure market? But after working as part of the government, the presidential administration, after looking at everything from another angle, he changed. He understands what a market economy is, what competition is, and understands what an earthly economy is,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
