MINSK, 1 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko phoned Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin and asked him to convey the best wishes and gratitude to all the people in uniform and particularly to those, who are on duty on New Year’s Eve. A video recording of the conversation was aired on television in the last few minutes of the year 2025 right before the president delivered the New Year address, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Good evening, Viktor Gennadyevich [Khrenin]! How do you do? How are our adversaries, competitors, and, god forbid, enemies? You have to understand that some people are celebrating while you and I cannot do it. We need to see everything that is going on.”

The president asked the defense minister to convey the best wishes and gratitude to all the on-duty personnel and to those, who are no longer on duty. “Particularly to those, who are on duty in this winter weather. I thank them very much! Convey my best wishes to them, to all the people in uniform,” the head of state said.
