United Kingdom appoints new ambassador to Belarus

MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) - Jacqueline Perkins has been appointed new Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Belarus, BelTA learned from the social networks accounts of the UK Embassy in Belarus.

“Ambassador Fionna Gibb finishes her term in Belarus in August 2019. Jacqueline Perkins has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus in succession to Fionna Gibb,” the embassy said.

At present, Jacqueline Perkins is undergoing language training. She worked in Kuwait, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Bahrain, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates.

Ambassador Fionna Gibb has headed the UK diplomatic mission in Belarus since January 2016. Before her appointment to Minsk, she was Deputy Head of the Projects Task Force, covering a range of political, security and cultural issues.
